my little patch of paradise
you know what's pretty damn cool?
going on a walk around the neighborhood with a friend from far away and finding a big patch of sunwarm ripe blackberries and picking a whole quart of them. and then coming home and eating a handful, saving out a handful for tomorrow's breakfast, and cooking the rest down into syrup. even better is adding a few strawberries frozen in the middle of strawberry-season, and a bit of juice from a meyer lemon off the tree in my garden.
right now my kitchen smells of rich warm blackberry juice, and lemon and honey. and i have fresh-made sweet tea with a little of the juice added in, and a good book to settle down with while the juice cooks down to syrup.
and chocolate.
i also have good chocolate.
that's pretty damn cool.

Know what else is cool? I had thought that WaHo#1 was gone. I was just told by a WaHo employee that the original building was torn down (sad), but there is still a WaHo there today.
