notes and reminders

. gym with [livejournal.com profile] fyfer, tomorrow
. potluck/dinner party on thursday, maybe
. Fruit is playing a short show in San Rafael at 6pm this thursday. i'm pretty sure i can't make it, but they look interesting.
. on friday, Jethro Tull plays at the Paramount (but i'm not going because the cheap tickets are $55), King Cobra plays at the Hemlock, and Harvest, a play which [livejournal.com profile] asarwate described as a 'dark comedy about organ harvesting in India' (and he should know, 'cause he's in it) opens at the Durham Studio Theater, Dwinelle Hall, on Berkeley campus. i'll probably go to one of the latter two shows.
. saturday there's a clothing swap and also Writers with Drinks, at which Peter S. Beagle (along with several others) will be reading/speaking
. and then on sunday i want to make time for doing art or making things. but possibly i will just sleep, instead, or have hot chocolate with little marshmallows or coffee ice cream in it.

also, so that i don't lose track of it:
Serenity fanfic, from [livejournal.com profile] coraline. contains spoilers.

If there is ANY way you can make it to Fruit, I say GO!
Could you get the dinner party to come to the show?
They are really fabulous, and while they tour the States a fair amount (during the Aussie winter, primarily - I'm surprised they're still up here) they don't necessarily hit the big cities every time. They have a fabulous presence "Live".

given all the good things i've heard about them, i would *really* like to see them. but getting from Berkeley (work) -> Oakland (my house & car) -> San Rafael (up over the north-bay bridge -- 25 min w/o traffic, 1.5+ hrs with bad traffic) at ~5-6pm on a weekday is...well, just about impossible. especially given that i've been working until 7 or 8pm most days lately.

*very sad*

...maybe next time.
thanks for the further recommendation, though. :)
