plans for the weekend?

i don't have much in the way of concrete plans for this weekend, and i know i'm likely to be a bit stressed and unhappy about not being at Burning Man. i'd prefer to keep busy with good bits of being-social and taking care of myself. so:

what interesting things are going on this weekend? d'you want to come out wandering with me, dancing, picnicking, making-things, or just being chill?

rough plans so far include
- my usual farmer's market on Saturday -- i'd love company for that
- working on the quilt -- anyone want to come over and craft/study/read/etc while i'm pressing, cutting, and arranging?
- party at a friend's on Saturday night
- possibly a much-needed good long massage on Sunday morning
- possibly a picnic with [livejournal.com profile] fyfer, [livejournal.com profile] cerevisiae, and whoever else wants to come, down at the landfill or maybe out in Tilden Park, or elsewhere
- work

there's also Art and Soul Oakland going on.

what else?

I would like to do picknicky things. My weekend schedule is actually fairly light because I have been doing a lot lately and need downtime. My only concrete plans are a birthday dinner for a friend saturday night. There's also a BBQ in oakland Monday but I'm not feeling terriblhy motivated to that. I'd rather hang out with you I think :)

sounds good to me. the picnicking looks like that'll probably be Sunday afternoon, but i don't know where yet. i don't have any plans for monday beyond "work some", so if you end up this way, i'd be happy to catch up with you then too.

which is your usual farmer's market? i'm in need of one :)

recommendations: Saturday at Grand Lake in Oakland, Tuesday afternoons on (Derby?) at MLK in Berkeley. The big one downtown in Berkeley I found too crowded and un-parking-friendly to actually shop, though nice to hang out at. (I also lived in walking distance from the MLK one, but schlepping groceries home from Cesar Chavez Park required me not to buy very much)

my usual market is the Saturday one in the Grand Lake neighborhood. you should come with me! i'll introduce you to the chocolate-guy. :)

i'm convinced! where/when shall we meet?

(gosh i hope i recognize you. heck, i hope you recognize me. i look all oddly naturally-colored hair these days.)

[identity profile] iridium.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
i usually head that way between 11 and 1; the market ends at 2pm. we could meet there, or i could swing by and pick you up, if you wanted to carpool.

...d'you have any interest in going over to the Depot for Creative Reuse? [livejournal.com profile] snowninja7 just told me that they still have piles of the tie silk swatches, and i want to go back soon and maybe look for more quilt material. :)

[identity profile] amber-phoenix.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be carless, so meeting here or at a BART would be cool. Wanna just call me to arrange in the morning? My phone # is in this post.

Oh, and, yes! a Depot trip sound nifty.

whee!

i'll call in the morning when i get up and moving, maybe around 11 or 11:30? (i'm going to bed nowish, but i've got a phone-date for catching up with E. in the morning.)

I was considering going to the Tapestry Arts Festival (http://www.superpages.com/cities/mtg/11015/) as a possibility.

Sunday plans are "probably go to Kiva"

[identity profile] iridium.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
neat. i doubt i'll make it all the way down to San Jose, though.

what's Kiva?

[identity profile] tenacious-snail.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Kiva (http://www.kivaretreat.com/) is in Santa Cruz, so probably too long of a trek. However, Osento (http://www.osento.com) is a similar-ish women-only place in SF.

ah, nice. i've been to Osento.

On Sunday i'm going to check out Calexico at the Art & Soul festival... That should be a lot of fun.

yeah, i saw that on the lineup. do you know when they're playing? i may be out having a picnic, but if i'm not, i'll probably try to go...

damn it. it may be finally sinking in that i no longer live in the Bay Area. not only do i not get to hang out in the East Bay with you this weekend like i would really like to do and have blissfully done in the past, i probably never get to do it again.

i think i need to go cry in a corner now.

i hope you have lots of fun, though. :)
and i'm sure i will have lots of fun in MN, and i just did have lots of fun in Boston, so i will attempt to not feel tooooooo sorry for myself.

*hug*
pfeh! i'm entirely sure that you'll make it up here to visit at sometime, because if you don't i might have to drive down and kidnap you. either way, there will be excitement and probably dancing. maybe a fire on the beach, with dancing around the fire, even.

i don't know how my school/work/volunteer schedule is going to settle out this fall, but i'd really like to drive the rest of the PCH sometime soon, and i think the last time i was in San Diego i was 3 years old. so i'm sure i'll be down to visit sometime soon, too.

say hello to mike & elizabeth & matt & katherine for me (especially if i've got their names right), and pass on thanks again for making my brief visit to Minneapolis quite a lot of fun.
