a few small thoughts
May. 13th, 2004 07:14 pmi was sitting outside for a bit this afternoon, in the courtyard under a lemon tree, and heard an odd bird-sound...it turned out to be coming from a little green hummingbird. i don't think i've noticed the sounds that hummingbirds make before (aside from the buzz/hum of their wings), but it wasn't what i expected. sort of a hoarse and nervous chirping.
day-before-yesterday, as i was driving home, KALX played a version of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, done in Japanese. having also just heard the Flaming Lips do it live (in English) a couple weeks ago, bits of the song have been stuck in my head for the past couple of days.
"oh Yoshimi / they don't believe me / but you won't let those robots eat me..."
*laugh* anyhow. maybe i'll write more about the Coachella weekend later.
i keep meaning to borrow a digital camera to take pictures of the view from my parking lot. maybe tomorrow. you can see across Berkeley down to the bay, the shipping cranes in Oakland, and both bridges. the sun sets into the hills to the north of San Francisco.
done with work now. time to go home.
