9. Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Susanna Clarke. A very good book, heavy and intricate but never so much as to lose my interest. It reads sort of like a well-written history, with threads of light stories spun off from that, but in a scholarly way. Very definitely has a British feel to it, and lots of footnotes.
And now that I've finished those 782 pages, I've got a pile of books from
jencallisto to read, and I'm still poking around through On Food and Cooking.
