from the Haus list, for people-in-boston:
the Bazaar Bizarre, whose website hurts my eyes but it looks possibly interesting nonetheless.

local:
"High Water Radio", a show from the SF Pickle Circus.

also perhaps the Dickens Fair, and definitely One Last Party at Pele's Pirate Pussy Palace.
(i do, in fact, find it weird that googling for a friend's house gets me something like five or six links to announcements about this party. given the house, i have a feeling it's going to be huge and thoroughly insane. i'm looking forward to it.)

is there anything that i'm forgetting?

edit: yes, there is.
for anyone in LA over new year's, Rosin Coven (whose top hats i covet enormously) is performing at something called Cirk-O-Six, at the Los Angeles Theater.

they're also playing the Sixth Annual Edwardian Ball: The Gilded Bat on January 21st, at the Great American Music Hall, which will be a gorgeous venue for that event. unfortunately, i think that's also the day that megan and i were planning to have our next party...argh! might have to reschedule.

Is that the house Clare was living in when I visited?

yep, i think so.

ANd how is it you've been there 2 years and I've only visited once?

i don't know. 'specially now that i live in a lovely house that is entirely lacking in rats.

the party ad made it sound like the house is being torn down for condos or something?

yeah, it probably will be bulldozed in the next year or so, if not much sooner.

Sadly, it seems like maybe you ultimately have to own your home to make a place like that permanently sustainable, and being interesting people doesn't, in itself, make the downpayment on a house. In fact, the two are often at odds.

in-deed.
one day i'd like to own my own house, and land, and do all kinds of crazy neat shit to it.
one day, one day...

I blame it largely on the job. And also on you coming through Atlanta last summer.

It certainly weren't the Mortimers keeping me away. ::smile::

RE interesting house, etc: Not to take anything away from my parents and, especially, how hard they've worked to get there, but it saddens me to know that I'll probably never be in the sort of position they're in to so fully be able to afford most of what they enjoy doing.

Ah well. Im sure I'll get by.

*nod* understood. :/
but...yeah. as long as you can get by, you'll be ok. and you should still be able to afford a bike or two, i'd think. :)
