going one better (with pictures!)
a very quick note -- the weekend was very full, and i will hopefully have time to write down more of the goings-on and stories, but one bit of it was sitting down in the living room with
tyratae and other-people-whose-ljnames-i-don't-know-yet and re-making Matilda's dashboard hula girl into...a goth dashboard hula girl.
words do not do justice, so here instead is a photograph:

zombie goth dashboard hula girl!

detail of face-decoration and ankh tattoo:

for comparison, this is roughly what the hula-girl looked like before redecoration:

...WANT!

[I actually made a 15 foot tall version about a year and a half ago during Rush - it had wheels, and one could actually sit inside, making it more of a Trojan Pony. Sadly, there wasn't really anyplace to keep it, and it's long since gone.]

hell yeah. :)
if you send it to me down in Mississippi (between now and 4/16 or so), i'll put it on the dashboard with the hula girl.

My sister has a hula-boy on her dashboard who looks for all the world like a Bitter Queen (as in an unhappy homosexual man; likely closeted). I wish I could capitalize on that.

sadly the goth girl isn't travelling with me anymore -- hopefully she'll find someone else to amuse and travel with, and i'm keeping an eye out for something else appropriate. (also, now i have all kinds of ideas for other hula-girl redecoration, so something will work out... :)

Have a good trip!

losing the gothgirl was a rough bit of beginning, but also a good reminder and lesson in letting go...and i'm doing a lot of that just now, so it makes sense.
in any case, so far the trip's been fabulous. driving Matilda on the highways, especially the twisty old freeways of LA and the coast highway...it makes me grin like a maniac. life is good.
