interlude

snippets from the evening:

"i shouldn't, but yet, i can't say no. i come from a long lineage of people who can't say no."

"oh, don't worry, what we're planning is more of an anti-murder."

"i don't really want to leave Santa Fe burning and crying in our wake."
"what about Texas?"
"aren't you coming back by the northern route anyway?"
"yeah, we can do that in Texas. sounds good to me."

"what, you're going to go break into a bank without me? awww..."

"i have no idea what you people were feeding me"
"well, it wasn't me, i wasn't even there; i was breaking into a bank."

----

drove through New Mexico today, desert and mesas and snow, rolling twisty highways over the continental divide through Coyote and Espanola. said hello to someone i haven't seen in seven(ish) years, made friends with her gorgeous graceful 16.4-hand Tennessee Walker, listened to stories of long motorcycle trips and old Los Alamos horse-people, of taking home a colt named Hotshot, who lived in the house and was raised on a bottle and then a pan of milk warmed on the stove, of detours through Catalog, Montana because a friend remembered working in the mines there in 1948. drove on down the shiny new highways that make everything strange, past sprawl and casinos, into Santa Fe. the Oasis is gone, i think, turned into an antique store...i'm sad to have missed it. but we flipped a coin and headed to Maria's to meet many friends, drank many margaritas and talked all night. [livejournal.com profile] lindalee got a call halfway through dinner with a request that she go pick the lock on a bank door, so we went off for that adventure and met the rest back by the fire at Del Charros.

[livejournal.com profile] l_stboy's drunk.
it's entirely entertaining.

*grin*

...any suggestions for stories i should ask about?

Well, just cause he's drunk doesn't mean he's any more likely to tell you anything. I mean there isn't really much he wouldn't tell you sober! Drunk just makes the actual act of the story telling (which he enjoys and is good at) even better. ;)

And ask him about the girl with the ring that he couldn't see. ;)

Well, just cause he's drunk doesn't mean he's any more likely to tell you anything.

heh, well, i'm not so sure about that. he did promise to buy me a llama and a 12-foot-tall fiberglass mushroom, and he still swears he doesn't remember saying any of it. :) but there were witnesses, so i think i win.

he said something about not thinking that you knew the story about the girl with the ring he couldn't see, and then weaseled out of telling me the story. i'll have to poke him about it sometime later. :)
